Find out what makes visionary art sacred, according to Alex Grey and Allyson Grey.

Visionary artists Alex Grey and Allyson Grey teach painting and drawing from the wellspring of divine imagination. In this workshop, artists at any level of experience create from the sacred ground and the mystic eye.

Through illustrated talks, vision practices, and group interaction, we empower the process of bringing our heart’s iconography to outer form and examine the worldwide visionary art movement.

Using guided imagery, meditation, shamanic ascent, and live model chakra drawings of body and soul, we open the doors of the imagination to the theater of revelation. Utilizing basic materials such as graphite, colored pencils, pastels, and watercolors, we commit mental pictures to paper and discuss the aesthetic dimension of our mystical experiences.

Explore art as a spiritual path and art as a career, address technical concerns, and define your creative goals.

Enrollment is limited for this program; register early.

The Faculty requests you bring the following items with you to the course:

Things to Bring:

  • Pencils and pens for drawing: 2B, 3B, HB
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Drawing/watercolor pad with heavy paper: 11” x 14”
  • Colored pencils: 20 or more colors
  • Kneadable eraser

Optional:

  • Watercolor set and brushes
  • Watercolor paper block
  • Images of past work: small portfolio, slides, color xeroxes, etc.

Note: Artists who prefer working in acrylic, pastels, oil pastels, or would like to bring small canvases or painting boards are welcome to bring those materials and should ALSO bring sketch materials listed.

Five Minutes Of Fame (optional for participants):
On the last night of the workshop, the class will have the opportunity to do a five minute presentation of their work. This could be a performance, a talk, or a slideshow presentation.

It is requested that anyone interested in presenting their work make a folder of their images, and number them in the order they would like the images to appear for the presentation. Once the images are prepared they can put them on a flash drive, which can be transferred to the computer being used for presentations. If a flash drive is not available, we can provide one for the transfer at the workshop.
